Brands Hatch will blast back to the '90s with the all-new Super Touring Power event on 1/2 July 2023, celebrating cars from one of the British Touring Car Championship's most fondly remembered eras. Two days of on and off track action will transport visitors to the Kent circuit back to a much-loved period of national motorsport with races, demonstrations and displays featuring Super Touring machinery.
On-circuit action will take place on both the full Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit and shorter Indy layout, with competitive action headlined by the Classic Touring Car Racing Club (CTCRC). Saturday's on-track entertainment will take place entirely on the famed GP loop, with Super Touring action complemented by other CTCRC tin top offerings and a MotorSport Vision Racing (MSVR) support package.
Racing will then shift to the compact Indy circuit for a Sunday showdown, with use of both layouts offering full weekend visitors a complete '90s Super Touring experience. Sunday's lineup will exclusively comprise CTCRC championships and series, with saloons and hatch backs from the '80s, '90s and '00s sharing the spotlight with the main act.
Additionally, a number of special Super Tourers will attend to take place in demonstration runs, whilst many more will form part of a static display of classic touring cars. Other off-track entertainment will include a retro car show featuring roadgoing models from the era, whilst a Sunday morning pit walk will allow spectators to take a closer look at the Super Touring machines in the garages.
Key personalities from the Super Touring era will be invited to attend too, including famous drivers, and full details of special guest appearances will be confirmed in due course.
Classic Touring Car Racing Club Chairman, Stuart Caie, said: "I have to start by saying how honoured we all feel to be asked to take part in such a huge meeting celebrating Super Tourers and period touring cars. These cars have such a big following and to be able to showcase the cars and the club at such an iconic circuit as Brands Hatch will be something very special."
MSV Group Motorsport Event Manager, David Willey, said: "I'm delighted to be working with Stuart Caie and everyone at the CTCRC to launch Super Touring Power at Brands Hatch, and it's clear there is an enormous appetite for an event like this from both from competitors and fans. The Super Touring era is frequently remembered as a golden period, not just for touring car racing, but for motorsport in general, and there is always a huge amount of excitement whenever we're lucky enough to see these cars at our circuits. Super Touring Power will showcase the passion that still exists for the thoroughbred saloon cars of that period, and we're looking forward to sharing more details of the event over the coming weeks and months."
Ticket information will be shared in the coming weeks, with a discounted price for advance bookers and free entry for under-13s. Brands Hatch season passes are however already on sale for fans hoping to enjoy a full season of action at Kent's popular racing circuit.
