Newly-crowned GB4 Team's Champions Kevin Mills Racing has
confirmed American driver Jeremy Fairbairn as the squad's first
signing for its title defence in 2023.
The 18-year-old has already raced with the team in this year's
Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch, taking ninth place in the
significantly-shortened two lap final at the Kent circuit, having
finished fourth in the heat and fifth in the
semi-final.
Before his first experience with the team in October, the Florida
resident had proven his talent across a variety of categories in
the USA, most recently finishing sixth overall in the 2022 USF
Juniors category, where he scooped a special award for the
overtaking move of the season.
Before that, he'd also raced in the 2020 F4 United States
Championship and the Yacademy Series with three wins and two poles,
ahead of his first taste of the Formula Ford Festival last
year.
An accomplished karting career saw him take the 2018
SKUSASuperNationals title in the X30 Junior class, and was third
overall in the SKUSA Pro Tour in the same category while winning
numerous races in USPKS and WKA as well.
Fairbairn now turns his attentions to a first full campaign of
European racing, and after feeling an immediate connection with the
team, has opted to join the Gloucestershire-based reigning
champions, with support from his primary sponsors GearSource.com,
Ayrton Lighting and SD Sealants.
Fairbairn said: "I am super excited to be heading
to the UK for the GB4 Championship next year. I love racing in the
USA, but I feel like the opportunity for me to gain experience on
new tracks, and against this level of competition is a dream come
true. I can't wait to see where it takes me.
"I watched every race [of GB4 in 2022], and I was impressed not
only by the management of the weekends, but also the quality of the
driving, not to mention, the races take place at some of the most
iconic tracks in the UK, which I am dying to drive."
Kevin Mills Racing claimed the GB4 Team's Championship in the
inaugural season thanks to a combined total of six wins and 16
further podiums from drivers Jarrod Waberski and Tom
Mills.
Team Principal Kevin Mills said: "We're very
pleased that Jeremy is re-joining the team for the full season in
2023, as we look to defend our GB4 title. We were not only
impressed by his speed at this year's Formula Ford Festival, but
also his ability to adapt to a new car. This should allow him to
overcome the challenges of racing in a new country in a car and at
tracks he is not familiar with."
