Christian Lester has confirmed that he will return
to the GB4 Championship for the 2023 season, reuniting with his
family-run squad Rossoverde Racing.
The Northern Ireland native competed in the majority
of the inaugural GB4 campaign last year, and showed a consistent
improvement in pace as the season progressed, allowing him to take
up front row starting positions for the final races at Donington
Park and Silverstone.
He claimed a best result of sixth during his most
impressive round of the season on the Silverstone Grand Prix
circuit, where he also secured his best qualifying positions of the
campaign.
GB4 provided the foundations for his return to racing
last year, having competed in selected rounds of the British F4
Championship in 2018, and then participated in the Australian Grand
Prix-supporting F4 round in 2019, where he was the rookie class
runner-up.
He's also competed in tin tops, and was a pole-sitter
in Ford Fiestas before turning his attentions to single-seaters.
Lester intends to race car number five, as piloted by his hero
Sebastian Vettel in F1.
Christian Lester commented: "I'm
looking forward to racing in GB4 again this year. I was pleased
that by the end of the year I was able to get closer to what I
wanted to show.
"My goal is to show that more consistently in 2023,
and really get stuck into the fights throughout the field. I can't
wait for Silverstone, high speed circuits suit me better and I've
always gone well there. GB4 is giving me ideal experience in
single-seaters, and I'm hoping to use that experience later in the
year to test Formula Regional-level machinery, and cars from other
series too as I look to move up the ladder."
Rossoverde Racing Team Principal Hector Lester
said: "Aside from anything else, it was
wonderful to be back in a racing paddock last year, and especially
among the British GT teams with whom we've had some many wonderful
memories over the years.
"With a full season under our belts, we hope that
Christian can continue to build on his performances from last year,
and we aim to add further drivers to our team as the season
continues."
