Tom Chilton set the pace in the second Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship Free Practice session of the weekend at Brands Hatch this afternoon (Saturday).
The Team BRISTOL STREET MOTORS driver lapped the Indy circuit in 48.047s during the second 35-minute on-track period of the weekend, and was top of the order with just minutes to go when the red flag came out following Daniel Rowbottom's off-track excursion at Paddock Hill Bend.
NAPA Racing UK's Rowbottom was Chilton's nearest rival in the session, which resumed with just a handful of minutes remaining to run. Nobody else was able to improve upon Chilton's time, leaving the multiple race winner at the top of the tree when the chequered flag fell, from Rowbottom and Dan Cammish.
Josh Cook showed strongly for a second session in succession in the first of the LKQ Euro Car Parts with SYNETIQ branded Toyotas in fourth, ahead of Ronan Pearson and Adam Morgan. Free Practice 1 pace setter Aron Taylor-Smith once featured in the top-ten, with Aiden Moffat, Ashley Sutton and Jake Hill setting the eighth, ninth and tenth fastest times.
Series leader Tom Ingram once again fell just shy of the top-ten in 12th, ahead of Quick Six Qualifying later on, in which he'll carry the biggest hybrid handicap.
