Elite Motorsport's McKenzy Cresswell claimed his first two GB3 Championship pole positions of the season in qualifying at Silverstone this morning.

His best lap of 1m52.703s, right at the end of the 20 minute session put him two tenths of a second quicker than Rodin Motorsport's Louis Sharp, who was unable to improve on his final lap.

Cresswell had held top spot for much of the final half of the session, finding small improvements with each lap to stretch his advantage at the top of the times. His consistency ensured his second best lap of 1m52.814s, just over a tenth away from his outright best, secured race two pole also.

Sharp had to make do with second, but still outqualified his nearest championship rivals. Hitech Pulse-Eight's Gerrard Xie was third fastest, 0.073s away from Sharp and 0.046s ahead of JHR's John Bennett.

Cresswell's teammate Jarrod Waberski earned his best qualifying result of the season with the fifth quickest time, 0.026s further back and 0.171s clear of championship leader Tymek Kucharczyk, who endured his most challenging qualifying since Oulton Park.

The returning Ugo Ugochukwu put his Rodin Motorsport car seventh, two tenths ahead of Elite's Hugo Schwarze, with VRD Racing by Arden duo Noah Ping and Shawn Rashid completing the top-10 for the race one grid.

For race two, Cresswell was a tenth ahead of Sharp, with Bennett and Waberski third and fourth. Kucharczyk and Schwarze completed the top-six ahead of Ugochukwu, Rashid, Xie and Rodin's Arthur Rogeon.

The first race of the weekeend at Silverstone is due to commence at 12.05, with full live streaming coverage available on the GB3 Championship website.
