Tom Ingram topped the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship times for a second Free Practice session in a row at Donington Park this afternoon after lapping the National circuit in 1m07.979s.
The Team BRISTOL STREET MOTORS Hyundai driver produced his best effort on his final flying lap of the session, proving late on that track conditions were still good despite a mid-session shower of drizzle. Ingram’s lap in the final moments put him just under three tenths of a second clear of Daniel Rowbottom.
Rowbottom himself moved up the order late on with an effort just two minutes from the end of the session to overhaul NAPA Racing UK teammate Dan Cammish. The NAPA branded Fords were followed in the final order by four-time champion Colin Turkington who showed strongly once again in his Team BMW machine.
Mikey Doble was another on the move late on, producing a strong lap in the closing moments of the 35-minute session to move fifth in one of Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing’s Vauxhalls. Jake Hill was just behind, moving into the top-ten for the first time this weekend to take sixth with a lap just over seven tenths off Ingram’s benchmark.
Adam Morgan’s BMW was seventh, one place ahead of Rob Huff who continued his forward progress on his full-time return to the BTCC with TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK. Aiden Moffat was ninth ahead of reigning champion Ashley Sutton who completed the top-ten.
