The 2023 Oulton Park Gold Cup programme has been updated, with the addition of the Simon Arron Trophy, which will see Classic and Historic Formula Ford cars return to the Cheshire circuit’s signature event.

A combined grid of Classic and Historic Formula Ford cars organised by the Historic Sports Car Club (HSCC) will take the place of Thundersports, which was previously announced as part of the initial line-up. This means that 1600cc, low downforce single-seaters return to the programme for the first time since 2021 on 28-30 July.

The new race takes its name from respected motorsport writer and photographer Simon Arron, who died in the latter part of 2022. Simon was a lifelong supporter of Oulton Park, the circuit at which he spent his formative motorsport years both as a spectator and reporter. He remained a frequent visitor during his time working the international beat in Formula 1, and in recent years he was an annual visitor to the Gold Cup, right up to last year’s edition.

The Simon Arron Trophy for Classic and Historic Formula Ford cars joins a line-up which is otherwise unchanged from what was previously announced. The HSCC will oversee the meeting with several guest categories from the Historic Grand Prix Car Association (HGPCA), Historic Racing Drivers Club (HRDC), Classic Sports Car Club (CSCC), Vintage Sports-Car Club (VSCC), and Motor Racing Legends (MRL).

Race day tickets for the 2023 Oulton Park Historic Gold Cup are available online in advance with discounts for 13-15-year-olds and free entry for under-13s. For more information, please call 0344 225 4422 or click here.
